ok so i just got my projectors in and i took them apart... the right hand projector has the cutout just like the left hand does... they are not Right hand drive or left hand drive... also look at the pic in the how-to for LHD use... the lens is a convex lens... which means the image would be rotated 190*... the "cutoff" portion is actually towards the center of the car and is found on both sides... just a little info i thought i might add... so US guys.. no reason to break open your projectors unless you want to paint them like me.... smile.gif smile.gif

heres the best i can do without taking my projectors back apart... i will also get some pictures of the light output against a wall without modifying the projectors...

this is of the driver side (US) from the how-to.... this is looking at the projector from the front.... the image (light) will get flipped 180* once it passes through the convex lens following this cutoff... therefore this is used to limit the vertical distance from the ground that is projected... giving you the line... once its rotated... the "cutoff" portion will be toward the center of the car... not on the outside like other people seem to think...

Have you actually been in a car with unmodified projectors?? Let me tell you from experience, they are for right hand drive. The projector lens works just like your eyeball, whatever goes through gets inverted. So with the pic above, the low point would be bottom right, making the high point of the light top left when flipped as it goes through the lens. So the cutoff that was added at the bottom right actually cuts the light output on the top left down to a flat line with the rest of the cutoff.

I have the remnants of my projector sitting here from my accident and just looked through the lens to verify even. They are NOT LHD, they are NOT center justified. They are RHD, nuff said.

it is made that way for LHD.

Freudian slip there buddy???? laugh.gif

I had mine unmodified since we put them in and never received a flash from oncoming traffic. The ONLY reason why I'm modifying them at this point is because I'm putting an HID kit in the car and would rather not take any chances with screwing with oncoming traffic.
