i am going to get some machine work done and i was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how much it would cost to get my heads resurfaced, cylinder bored and honed, valve job, and crank ground and balanced

that was actually on a 3s.... its really not that bad... check the gap.. correct the shim accordingly... a lot of shops quote you a price for doing one shim at a time... setting the cam... checking the gap... fixing the shim... then rechecking the gap... (that method would take you $400 worth of time)... no shop actually does this... they set the cams... do all the gaps... fix all the shims at one time... and then recheck all at the same time... one hour to two hours for someone that knows what they are doing
