Hey All!

Hoping to find a little help here.. Bought a Jap ST205 3 years ago, 70,000 km on the dial. I have kept it stock except for suspension and rims/tyres and exhaust. Have been noticing a sound at 2500-3500 RPM (in any gear, especially audible on hard pulls i.e. when I really mash the go pedal). Kinda sounds like little lead pellets falling on an aluminum sheet. Sound disappears when the revs reach 4000 and above. I always thought this might be some under pinnings rattling but now I'm fearing it might be actually be pinging and causing long term damage to the motor.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

there is so many heathshields (5 or 6) starting from the ct20b down to the b-pipe on a REV 3 engine, this is what makes a big job in installing a downpipe. I would check for these, or very very often this the exhaust under the car that vibrates and touch to the body where it is not supposed to touch...
