Hello I have a 94 celica gt with the manual 5 speed. It has 138,000 miles on it. When I bought it about 5,000 miles ago 3rd gear would grind when shifting into it at high rpm like 4,000 and above. However, I fixed that problem using (Pennzoil syncromesh transmission oil) it totally fixed the problem and I was happy with it!

-Now however sometimes, not always it will not want to shift into first or any other gear when sitting still or barely rolling. This happens literally half of the time I need to put it into gear say at a red light and then it takes so long to get it in gear that I am holding up traffic!

-So is there something to adjust? I feel as though it is an internal issue and there is nothing I can do.

-Anyone else have this issue? How did you fix it?

-On a side note my car sits for months at a time as I work over the road and the (Pennzoil syncromesh transmission oil ) has been in the trans since 2003 but only has about 5,000 miles on it so I am not sure an oil change would help. And the oil is full not running low. Also it still shifts great both up and down once I get it started into 1st.

Thanks.....

Brandon

Thanks for the reply but I replaced the clutch at 132,000 miles when I first got the car and it holds great. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this specific problem and what was done?
