Hello I have a 94 celica gt with the manual 5 speed. It has 138,000 miles on it. When I bought it about 5,000 miles ago 3rd gear would grind when shifting into it at high rpm like 4,000 and above. However, I fixed that problem using (Pennzoil syncromesh transmission oil) it totally fixed the problem and I was happy with it!
-Now however sometimes, not always it will not want to shift into first or any other gear when sitting still or barely rolling. This happens literally half of the time I need to put it into gear say at a red light and then it takes so long to get it in gear that I am holding up traffic! -So is there something to adjust? I feel as though it is an internal issue and there is nothing I can do. -Anyone else have this issue? How did you fix it? -On a side note my car sits for months at a time as I work over the road and the (Pennzoil syncromesh transmission oil ) has been in the trans since 2003 but only has about 5,000 miles on it so I am not sure an oil change would help. And the oil is full not running low. Also it still shifts great both up and down once I get it started into 1st. Thanks..... Brandon |

Ok, here is what it is since i had the same exact problem. Took me awhile to figure this out after replacing cables, slave cyl, master cyl. Very easy fix! The clutch pedal release bolt needs to be adjusted. It's located under your dash where the pedal goes up and almost to the firewall. look under and look as you press in the pedal, you will notice it pressing against a threaded bolt going toward the firewall. All that needs to be done is adjust the bolt a lil bit so the pedal (in released postition) sits further out (toward driver). Only do about a 1/2 to 3/4 turn at a time and test it out otherwise you will get a slippery clutch. thats it!! What is happening is your pedel gets pressed it is not 100% fully disengaging the clutch, thus the "hard to get into low gears" issue. Hopefully this helps. Any ??s PM me
