A swapped GT with ALL stock do the cooling job no problem, the only thing that you have to keep in my mind is to get cool air to the engine:

St205 Hood vents are better as they create a vacuum on the top of engine bay and improves cold air flow to the manifold and intercooler (W2A if you have it, or simply cooling the FM cold pipe to the throttle body)

The TRD thermostat lower engine temp by 20degreesF and transfer the temp into the radiator. This has the effect to cancel a little the fact that this is reducing engine bay heat, because the hot air draws back into the engine bay, but it is not a major problem.
The more important point is that reduce conduction and radiant heat on cold intercooler pipe and intake manifold, so it DOES reduce intake manifold air temperature which the primary heat source is metal to metal contact with the engine...
it doesn't reduce engine bay convection heat (average temperature ambient air in engine isn't lower)
it improve heat absorbtion into the combustion chamber because of the greater difference of temps between hot gases and coolant
it also improve conduction heat transfer between turbine and coolant

In my opinion, the cooling plate is useless, it reduce cold air flow to the intake manifold by the top of the engine. The radiator effiency isn't an issue for us 6gc owners, cooling plate are only for 400hp+ and/or good looking engine bay.

Im willing to arugue with you on this one. I purchased Doggys cooling panel, if anything, for ****s and giggles not realye expecting much other than looks. After installation i took my car for nice long mountain cruise up here in oki, and wow there really was a difference. I wish i had a temp meter because it really no **** lowered radiator temps at cruising and high speeds. I mean yea at idle it does nothing, but when the car gets moving yea, there is a noticable difference. At least to me. Im sorry i dont have any proof to back up what im saying but it was about the best investment made in terms of cooling effenciency.

As far as an anftermarket radiator goes, of course itll help cool, even if jsut minimally..a 400$ "investment" early on for those who have 3sgtes would not hurt. True you could do more to help in terms of hoses, thermostats, etc. But if you have done all of that already, and your still not satisfied, or your car is still running hotter than usual. Then why not?
