do you guys even know what you're fighting over?? the stock radiator has aluminum fins just like the koyo and megan... the ONLY difference are the top and bottom hookup... the reason for this is because the plastic stock ones tend to crack over time... of my four celicas... they all have broken... NOW go to advanced auto parts and get a replacement radiator for cheap (~$120, IIRC) that has a LIFETIME warranty... the cooling effeciency is no different from the stock to koyo to megan.. the actual fins in all of them are identical...
the reason they are called "racing radiators" are for guys that want to up their coolant PSI to effectively reduce heat as well... but this would involve getting silicone hoses, complete aluminum radiator, aluminum reservior, higher rated radiator cap (this is where the magic happens)... getting all parts that can hold up to the higher PSI... without a complete overhaul of the cooling system... the difference in a KOYO and MEGAN radiator in cooling effectiveness IS ZERO as for the cooling plate... it has been show to have some good effects... when air is brought into the engine bay it first hits the AC radiator (condensor, is it?) and is pushed up and then hits the radiator and is pushed up... the cooling plate eliminates the ability of the air to rise and funnels it all into the radiator... it will raise the ambient temp in the bay but reduce internal temps This post has been edited by pittfirefighter: May 24, 2009 - 2:24 AM -------------------- Breaking Axles...
