I am near completion of my 2nd gen 3sgte swap in place of what formerly was a 7afe. I was wondering if anyone had completed the same swap and got their AC to work. I realize the compressor has to be changed, but just curious what you all did. Any help is appreciated. It's winter now, but I won't have a heater or defroster. Summer is what I'm REALLY worried about.

What is wrong with the compressor from the 3s? At the worst, I would think all you needed to do would be to splice the AC hoses, they sell splices for doing just that- Or most full service Auto Parts stores have hydraulic crimpers and can custom build hoses to fit, maybe using the fittings from the 3s compressor and the other ends from your stock hoses? (I am assuming the 3s came with AC, if not, is that something else to look for when buying a clip? Make sure the one you get has AC? ) I am NOT doing without AC,,,I have seen it hit over 100 degrees here for 30 days in a row,,, Or is it that you need the brackets from the 5s? , I would imagine the compressors are all the same regardless of engine, just different mountings or pulleys? are the 5s and 3s close enough to use the same brackets? you may be able to swap pulleys if needed, it does sometimes require a special pulley puller for AC units... Someone needs to write a book on this...get all the known info in 1 place. ![]() This post has been edited by 97GTinKC: Nov 28, 2003 - 11:42 AM |
