Just finished up replacing the head gasket due to a compresion leak into the radiator (foaming the antifreeze). Start it up and now the rear main is hemorraging oil out of the bellhousing.
Anyone out there replaced their rear main seal "in the car"? Gonna have to pull the trans, flywheel to get to it. What a PITA. |

Found my rear main seal to be "cocked" in the seal housing, bottom side was flush with the rear side top was pushed in to the front of the retainer. Never expected to see that, but glad to see that it was definetly bad, Found my axle outer boots trashed too, got the manual trans back in late this afternoon, going to finish it up Friday/ Sat. Still need to replace the water pump. I could press the old seal in the housing with my hand, new seal required a seal driver.
