Ok here's the deal boys. I bought an Optima Yellow Top battery a long time ago. And there's a power draw that I didn't pay attention to for a while and now it's murdered my battery. I have to unplug it every night or it doesn't want to start the next morning. After driving for a while I'll have a full 12v (usually around 12.04, but example right now *after leaving it unplugged over night I'm down to 11.53v* So I know the battery itself isn't holding the charge as much anymore. And I have located two fuses that are pulling power.
The 10amp fuse for the "dome" which I believe controls the cigarette lighter *which hasn't worked since I've owned the car*, the clock and the dome light. It is pulling 650 milliamps. Secondly, the 20amp fuse for the radio is pulling 175 milliamps I believe. Now I know the radio one isn't an inordinate amount, but if I leave the car hooked up over night that one item is enough to make it not want to start. I have removed the Dome fuse because, until i can figure this out, I'm ok without those items working. What the eff do you guys make of this? Discuss, diagnose, help fix. Go. -------------------- ![]() |

Yeah I have hooked of up overnight on trickle charge before to "top it off" I just didn't check the voltage the next day.
Another example, drove the car fora little bit yesterday, got back home around 6pm. Forgot to unplug the battery until 1am. Car BARELY started this morning. I went to the paint store for ten mins, came out and the car wouldn't start altogether. Mother effer is making me mad!!! -------------------- ![]() |

Dustin.....thinking about it, you may want to take your alternator in for a check. If the diode goes out it'll backdraw against the battery when the car is off, and if the alternator isn't putting out amperage, it won't charge the battery. It may be putting out voltage to run the car, but if it's not charging too you're going to end up not starting. I'd check that first and foremost because even though it barely started, a few minute drive with a healthy alternator putting out 80ish amps would have quick charged it enough to start again. -------------------- |
