Decided to make our own pod holders and the results are great.
Fabricated from scratch, moulded from ST205 dash, designed to fit 52mm gauges. Made in 2mm thick black leather grain high impact polystyrene, making the leather effect same as the original Toyota dash. It will be held on by using double sided tape. No need to drill anything anywhere!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by yellowchinaman: Jun 23, 2009 - 7:59 AM |

Hi everyone. I appreciate the support with new products but really there is no big deal or secret in making these. It's just time, skill and craftsmanship to make something of this quality and for it to reflect the price.
Yes products for the gen 6 is niche but its not allwasy about money. RT-Performance supports a rally team which drives GT4's and in all our rally cars we have roll cages. This means havinggauges in the A piller is not an option. ![]() This is why using our resources we adopted teh DDG idea. Anyone can make these really if they have the right materials and equitpment and I'm sure people can look up how to make thes out of fibreglass at home. We basically made a ceramic model and vacume formed it. Easy however having the skills to make it, access to industrial equiptment and the material to make the products was the challenge. In all RT-P invested over £1K to develope and fabricate just 10 of these. They where all hand made and crafted to fit using my car as a template over 2 weeks duration. Our price reflects the cost and the quality of the product. Here are a few picturs of development: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sales on these in the UK are very good. We're onto our second batch now and had requests for 60mm gauges to be made and other requests for other cars to be made too. If I was to be able to obtain a LHD dash then I can make LHG gauges for the US market. You can buy these on our website at www.RT-Performance.com and please dont feel discouraged to order from the UK to be sent abroad as these are light weight and made of high inmpact plastic so they wont break in postage and doesnt cost alot to send. Of course if you tell us you're in the 6G forum when enquiring from the website, we can offer a small discount being a 6G member. PS: There is no 6 months waiting on these gauges as they've available to buy now whilst stock lasts. Ray This post has been edited by yellowchinaman: Jun 27, 2009 - 12:00 PM |
