I've been searching for a 22re 4x4 in my price range with no luck. I did however stumble upon a V6 4x4 for a mere 2500. The owner is a friend of a friend so I don't expect anything shady.

The head gasket was replaced post 100k and it currently has 180k. There's some slight corrosion on the front underneath, it's been to the beach dunes a couple times. I smelled oil burning after test-driving, and it wasn't coming from the tailpipe.

The body is in very good shape, no rust and little tiny dents. The truck ran excellent and the clutch is brand new and felt great. The tires are brand new 33 bfg's. The interior is in very good shape as well.

I plan on getting a compression test done soon, if it passes should I pull the trigger? Don't know much about the 3.slow except it's headgasket problem.

So the v6 had a cylinder leak, and I decided to only look for 4cyl's since.

I am looking at another truck today, 92 4x4 22re 180k miles that is immaculate inside and out. I'll spare the details (which are very good), but it has one catch.

The previous owner went through a couple headgaskets before selling this guy his truck. This guy said the cylinder head was in bad shape so he replaced it, along with all gaskets and a new timing chain w/ steel guides (says he has receipts). He owns a toyota truck business and says he will warranty the entire truck for a year (labor only) and will give written proof.

My question is will I have to worry about any other components of the engine having a compromised lifespan because of the headgasket failures.

I'm going to see this in about 6 hours and could use some advice b4 then. Thanks in advance

Travis

you should be fine if the HG is replaced.
