My brother has a 7th gen celica GTS and says he needs a new cat because he hollowed it out from regular driving. I say he just needs a new O2 sensor. This is why...he has no problems whatsoever while driving nor does he have any sounds at all from the cat. He does have a check engine light on though. Anyway, is it in any way possible for someone to simply hollow out their cat by driving yet have no side effects in any way? maybe I am wrong but I don't think so.

I believe excessive heat can basically "melt" the catalyst over time, excessive heat from the engine being improperly tuned, something with like too much unburned fuel entering the exhaust.
a local exhaust shop saved some insides of cat-cons that this had happened to, and it really smashed them down, i would *think* that the exhaust flow should be pretty obstructed from that, and that's probably what is throwing the code. QUOTE (14:19:21) Daniel: That was a JDM hole in the side of the box too. There was so much JDM trapped inside that box that they couldn't contain it, so they had to put a JDM hole in the box to let the JDM out. QUOTE Ferdi says (11:29) No, it looks like a hooker put her acid vag on your hood. Acid vag = bigger problem than a few dings. |
