was reading in mr2 this, making a hybrid S54/S51. Using the internals from a camry tranny into ours. in the case that e153 is difficult to find or get.
he S54 housing with S51 internals gives you great gear ratios (similar to the E153) without the added weight. -E153 for double synchros (e153 has them on 2nd,3rd,5th... s54 don't have that)
without that you will blow you second gear or synchro, a common problem on 90-93s e153 who don't have that -E153 has also an integrated oil pump to cool tranny oil and keep bearings lubrificated -E153 clutch is much more bigger and stronger -E153 isn't faster getting into gear....but it is shorter throw and it stays into gear firmly -If you have 3sgte, LSD is a must and is even not enough to hold tires firmly on the ground in second gear at 15psi This post has been edited by domyz: Aug 17, 2009 - 8:19 PM |
