So I am obese, was 210 pounds 3 weeks ago now 190.6 lbs and still going at it 5'7. My Body mass Index says I am overweight.
Lately I am going back to school so I can use the Gym over there to do cardio and weight lifting. I'm working on my abs now and trying to get rid of that gut.

Here is what I have been doing everyday, run 1 mile on the treadmill at super fast speeds and then doing a jogging pace alternating.
Situps, push ups and lifting 25lb dumbells. I have a huge plastic ab Ball and its one of the best investments you can get for under $10.

FOOD:
Drinking mostly water and Sugar free / Low-carb drinks.

For breakfast I eat 2 eggs cooked on a pan with non-stick spray with 1 cup of rice
for Lunch 1 protein shake with a carrot.
for dinner small piece of meat 1/4 the size of hand with vegetables on the side.
Snack usually a side salad with lite dressing.

My goals, 160 lbs with some good muscle tone.

Anybody else also trying to get in shape? I'm taking pictures of myself every week so I can compare. Once I get that Goal planning to post em tongue.gif

I want to, but my goal isn't so much weight loss as it is rehab from injuries.

I weigh 185 and I'm 5'10", and my weight hasn't changed in about 9 years. I'm just getting over a bad bout of shoulder tendonitis from last fall, caused by too much softball. I spent 6 months doing various treatments including physiotherapy, acupuncture and deep tissue massage, spent somewhere around $1000 on it too... I also have an old work related lifting injury that messed up my elbows, so lifting weights is a delicate process that I can only do in small doses to avoid a lot of pain.

I have been using those thera-bands (look like big rubber hoses with handles) for some rotator cuff exercises, and they seem to help my shoulder. Anything more intense and my shoulder really flares up. Gotta go slow and steady...

I purchased a recumbent exercise bike in the winter to help with nagging knee pain that turned out to be caused by a pinched sciatic nerve (too much computer me thinks...) and it was the best thing I could have bought. I only paid $150 for it (on for 1/2 price) and I try to ride every second day. I usually ride 8-10kms, usually 20-30mins or so as a fairly continuous pace of 20-25km/h. It has helped with my endurance and with the leg pain I was getting.

As for diet, I'm not overly strict as weight loss isn't a major goal of mine. I avoid a lot of sugary drinks, fatty foods, fast food, drink lite-beer more often, don't put anything in my morning coffee, eat at least one peice of fruit and one piece of vegetables at lunch every day, try to take a salad to work once a week, etc. Small things that will add up over time.
