I've seen a few post with some details for this swap, but not specific enough to give me a direct answer.
I know a few have successfully done this swap and now its my turn to ask for help. I have a 98 Manual GT and wanted to know if there are any parts or anything I need to look out for when doing this swap. I will be picking up this Beams next Monday. The harness, ecu, air flow meter, header, shifter, fuel pump, axles, and tranny are included in this set. Does the harness need to be rewired to work or is it just plug and play? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks |

wow very nice 2bcelica! nice job on the swap, you've got everything running just perfectly. I rpm needle will drop back to normal idle, from what outsider was saying. I see the mph gauge seems to be working just fine.
Ok and for the speedometer. From what i understood from you and Presure 2. Of course i have to use the original SS-III beams cluster gauge. i swap out the the mph gauge and then i use original at200 electrical housing along with original middle piece. what does original middle piece mean? I guess thats something ill have to learn as time goes on from classes im taking at college for toyota electrical body and toyo ecu??? So malpaso had to use a converter becuase he was using his original km/h gauge with the same electrical housing right!!! So malpaso had to use a converter becuase he was using his original km/h gauge with the same electrical housing right!!! This is from my testing experience. I had the entire beams gauges - and thought i could just unplugg the old one and put the beams housing in - but that didn't work. RPM - and speed gauge didn't respond (uses different electrical signal on the pin outs i think). So I took out the beams RPM gauge out of its housing and put it in the ST204 housing. I kept the original Speed Gauge that is in the st204 housing. So which means I am using the original ST204 housing with its original center piece (the speed gauge, MPH). I'm not sure how malpaso setup is, but I would assume that he wanted to use the middle speed gauge that belonged to the Beams or ST205 - so indeed he would need the converter.
