Hi,
I was hoping someone could enlighten me with the different models around the world. In Australia, all we have is the Celica SX and Celica ZR, both have the 5SFE 2.2L, which is pretty lame. There are GT4's around, but all of them are imports. I have seen people talking about SSIII, GT,ST and all these other models, I have even seen some come with a 1.8L motor ? How slow would that be ? I know that in Japan they come out with a 3SGE, because my mate bought an engine from one and put it in his ST162, standard with a Microtec (aftermarket ECU) he made 146HP at the front wheels, thats pretty damn good for a NA 2.0L Anyway, i'd love to know what all these other models are and which countries they are in. -------------------- 2 X ST165 GT4's

UK Celica range: GT 3SGE The new Celica GT was launched with an all new bodyshell and an evolution of the 3S-GE that now produced 171bhp (173PS) and would power the car to 60mph in just 7.9 secs. Standard equipment included ABS, driver's airbag, front fog lamps, side impact beams, electric glass sunroof, electric windows, tinted glass, central locking, 4 speaker stereo, alarm/immobiliser, alloy wheels, electric mirrors and a rear spoiler. Options included air conditioning and a CD player. GT-Four 3SGTE A Celica GT-Four version was again offered, with permanent 4 wheel drive and a turbocharged 3S-GTE as before. Improvements to the engine and turbo raised the power to 239 bhp (242PS) and the 0-60mph time to 6.3 secs. Standard equipment was the same as the GT with the addition of air conditioning. CABRIOLET 3SGE For 1995 a soft top version was added to the range. Based on the GT it used the rear panels from the Curren (JDM Celica with a boot). It was a little heavier than the GT and the performance suffered as a result. Fitted with an electric hood, it had the same equipment as the GT but with leather seats as standard, only one airbag and no air conditioning. GT - facelift 3SGE Late in 1995 the GT got a facelift. Externally the nose cone was redesigned, a small spoiler was added to the rear edge of the bonnet, a new 3 post spoiler was fitted to the rear, a 3rd brake light was mounted on the tailgate and side skirts were added. On the inside twin airbags were standard and leather seats were now an option. In 1996 the door mirrors gained heated glass, in 1997 leather ceased to be an option, and in 1998 locking wheel nuts and a 6 speaker system was added. ST 7AFE The ST was launched onto the UK market in July 1995, Its 1.8 litre 7A-FE engine was good for 124 Mph and had a 0-60 of 10 secs, best part was it could return over 48 MPG. To save money it had steel wheels and the rear spoiler and side skirts were left off. Alloys and the spoiler were available as options but they cost extra. 25th Anniversary Limited Edition 7AFE To celebrate 25 years of the Celica in the UK, in 1997 Toyota GB offered a limited edition. Based on the 1.8 ST, just 250 were made, 125 in black and 125 in silver. The spec was as per the GT but with special alloy wheels, air conditioning as standard, a carbon fibre effect front console, a Sony CD player and a 25th Anniversary plaque with a unique serial number. SR 7AFE Following the success of the 25th Anniversary Limited Edition, Toyota GB followed up in 1998 with the SR. Again based on the ST, this time 250 were made in silver and 250 in black. No serial number plaque or carbon fibre effect for the SR but 16" Momo sports alloys and a stainless steel mesh grill made the car look special. UK production dates ST 01/05/1995 to 31/10/1999 GT 09/03/1994 to 31/10/1999 GT-Four 01/05/1994 to 31/07/1996 25th LTD /01/1997 to /08/1998 SR /08/1998 to /10/1999 This post has been edited by Wintersun: Sep 7, 2009 - 2:51 PM -------------------- 1996 Green JDM GT4
