I've pretty much got all of it down, but i've heard about some kind of liquid inside the front tube...what exactly is the liquid and what should i replace it with should i spill it or something?

The cartridges are sealed, but the struts are filled with a very thin oil -- for heat dispersion. Air is not a good conductor. The oil transfers heat away from the actual shock (the cartridge in rebuildable struts), improving function and prolonging life.
KYB recommends simply capturing the oil from your struts and re-using it, so be careful when taking the gland nut off, and of course use a very clean container to collect it. Keep in mind the oil's not there for lubrication so viscosity isn't the issue and it hasn't been subjected to the kind of use which breaks down engine oil. And as a side note, do not use engine oil as a replacement. Motorcycle fork fluid will do, but it'd cost dearly. |
