Hey Guys,
As some of you may remember, I recently picked up racing hart M5s in 18x7.5 format. I'm still working on refurbing them, but when I'm through I'm going to be in the market for some new tires and wanted some recommendations. I would like to stay at either a 40-45 thickness, mostly because that will still throw off my spedo by about 3mph at 60, and should keep the overall size closer to the GTS wheels I have on there currently. I've been using the Falken ZIEX ZE-912 tires for a while, and after warming them up they corner magnificently. However, with all of the choices out there, I'm not sure if I'll want to go with them again for 18s. So let me know what you guys have used and enjoyed. I'd like to keep the cost per tire down below $150, but would still like to have nice, grippy tires. I'm also mostly interested in either summer or all weather tires (but probably more summer, I think I'll keep the GTS wheels for winter driving). -TC -------------------- Live your life for yourself. Alright guys,
So, ran into some bad news. The Racing Hart M5s had one wheel that was FUBAR'D. I looked around for a replacement, but couldn't find any. After 3 weeks of looking, I finally gave up hope to find another any time soon. So I happened across some Volk C-Ultras in 16x8 (possibly 7, orig. stickers are there, but they're mislabeled) +35 selling for dirt cheap on CL. They're tireless, so right now I'm looking for new tires for them as well. To be honest, I don't know sizes that well, but I was thinking 215x40x16. Do you think that this would be a good size, or should I be looking for something slightly lower profile or more stretched? I don't want the whole doughnut look, or the squared look that most sizes give without stretching them. Since I've worn out my Falken's faster than I can imagine (like 3-5k and I've gone through 20-30% of the tread... I need to stop sliding) I need some decent all-season tires for the winter. Once summer hits, I'll swap the all-seasons back over to the GTS wheels and put on good summers on the Volk's. Anyways, if you have any recommendations, please let me know! -TC This post has been edited by razor7: Sep 23, 2009 - 12:29 AM -------------------- Live your life for yourself. So from lip to lip it's 8, but I'm guessing it's only a 7 since the tire won't be the same size as the lip. How stretched do your 205s look? That's probably the size I'm going to go with, 215 seems too wide. -TC This post has been edited by razor7: Sep 23, 2009 - 2:36 PM -------------------- Live your life for yourself.
