EDIT: 8/22/09
Ok guys before commenting just know my goal is 330 hp until all 2 stages is complete.. so keep that in mind when reading my setup: 95 toyota celica GT ST205 3sgte swap GT tranny and axles Stage 3 clutch kit and flywheel(deciding between 2 I like) EDIT: ST205 fuel pump 3 inch exhaust(already installed) ST205 downpipe Now in order to move on to stage 3 I need to figure out which engine I want.. parts for the 185(non RC) I have found to be relatively easy in case something breaks.. alot of sites have parts for the engine.. but it turns out the 185 wiring is harder than the 205.. im leaning towards the 205.. although i think finding parts for the engine is harder.. the swap should be a bit easier and at stock I would be right at my goal which is 250 hp running stock... i know for a fact there wont be an urge to raise booast levels since stage 2(AWD Conversion) of my swap would not be completed.. and this is my only car which i use for work and not for racing intentions.. 4 now.. lol so basically I got 2 questions that have been killing me for a while now.. axles.. is it possible to mix and match GT tranny with 3sge axles.. if so that would be a delight but I highly doubt you can.. but im asking for clarification.. and 2.. what engine do you guys think I should go with.. 185 or 205? look...here is what i would do, before you get all crazy, and do 1 little thing and think every problem in the car is fixed, calm down, TAKE YOUR TIME, and go over the motor...if you did it once do it again, if you did it 6 times, do it again. Check the back of the manifold really good, make sure no lines are cracked, have holes in them ect, ect. a good way to check to see if the lines have vacume is to squeze them and you should notice the car ideling differently, if not almost dieing out on you. Another great safe way to check is to take a tourch, WITH OUT THE FLAME ON! turn the propane on medium, as the car is running aim the propane near all of your vac. lines...if there is a leak anywhere in the lines or across the motor, it will bump your idle up and you will find where your problem is. Do you have a gauge on it? what is it reading?
Next i would make sure you have done general maintaince to the engine, fresh fluids all around(I know this isnt going to help with the vac. issuse but it is something that should and NEEDS to be done to any motor that has been sitting for a while) fresh oil, filter, coolant, plugs, (perferably NGK 6097's Gaped at 0.028, which makes it a little easier for the ignition system to keep the spark nice and strong) cap, rotar. since the motor is already in the car you cant (unless you really want to) replace the t-belt, which should have already been done but so be it, aling with front a rear main seals, cam seals, water pump, ect. Third i would get in there and replace that fuel pump imeditily. if you have an st205 fuel pump for it, just do it. Its a 20 minute job. if not then i would suggest a walbro, but like batman stated above an 205 pump will work fine. Forth, how mushy is your clutch? i would try rebleeding it once more, make sure your clutch fluid is toped off and it feels stiff as it should. its a possiability that your slave cyclender could be faulty but before jumping to any conclusions i would do simple things to try and fix the problem first. 5th, i would listen to everything and anything Lagos tells you to do. I know him personaly and i can say from first hand experience the man knows exactly what he is talking about. He would not suggest or tell you to do something if he wasnt 100% sure that thats whats needed to be done with out telling you this first. Hes been around these things for a long time, and any problem, except for 2 i can think of off the top of my head, he was right about, and knew exactly what to do and how to fix it. As for your speedo, is it jumping and not reading? is it reading at all? do you notice the speed is off on it? if so then it is a problem with your wireing in the harness. I would e-mail tweak and see if you can get it worked out, or if he knows what to do, but from my understanding you just have to clip a wire or something very easy and it will work fine. it has something to do with the small blue clip that goes into your transmission on the top. And lastly, click the link below. Read it, know it, use it, Understand it! it is the bible to the 3sgte engine. It is an awesome wirte up and has TONS of very helpfull and interesting information. http://www.mrcontrols.com/primers/power.htm good luck, do what i told ya, and report back with what you find This post has been edited by 95st-celica: Oct 21, 2009 - 3:04 PM -------------------- I"M NOT A TOYOTA FAN, IM A FANATIC 1984 accord hatch 5 speed (T-Belt)-Junkyard 1991 VDUB jetta wolfsburg Ed. 5 speed (clutch)-junkyard 1988 Dodge Aries K (sold) 1969 Chevy El camino - Traded for celica 1991 Dodge Daytona-Traded for Celica 1988 Chevy Camaro-Work in Progress 1989 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 - For Sale 1995 Toyota Celica-Work in Progress |
