Well Im going in on the lotek group buy and was wondering what kinda gauges everyone is getting? I plan on getting a RPM gauge and a Fuel/Air ratio gauge but other than that i have no idea. Lets hear what you all plan on doing.

I read this post the other day and the comment that autometer gages suck bugged me. Specifically the one about the boost gage not reading 0 when sitting in the box (therefore making it crappy). I got to thinking about it and this really would not be correct (for a boost gage to always read 0 unless it was referenced to ambient atmospheric conditions (the electronic greddy and others probably are)). I've seen variations in atmospheric pressure anywhere from 30.05inHg to like 28.97inHg (total difference=0.67). This just happens to equate to 0.53psi. So it would not be at all unusual for the gage to fluxuate slightly based on the atmospheric conditions. This probably isn't a good characteristic to have in a boost gage as the engine cares only what the final density of the charge is which is determined only by absolute pressure, temperature (and gas composition, but we'll consider that to be constant). All in all I don't think a half psi fluxuation is a big deal tho as charge temp will have a much greater effect on the end density and will be much more affected by the ambient temp than the pressure will be by the barometric pressure. The main requirement in a gage is repeatability, if the accuracy is slightly off it's not huge because its always the same. If you tuen it and know where the gage is supposed to be it doesn't much matter from then on.

Ok, I know that was a ramble, but I had to get it off my chest. I have autometer gages. wink.gif

I'm not knocking your gauges, because most Autometer gauges probably work great, but some Autometer gauges just are not quality products. I've heard the bad things that you described with the boost gauges from at least five different people, but also, I've heard bad things about some of their other gauges as well. Just last night I was reading up on gauges and found two instances of people having their needles on their Autometer gauges fall off. I also read that a couple people had problems with their needles sticking in one spot occasionally.
