I am from California and starting a project swap. This would be my first swap. I already have the engine and the body, just missing the ECU. I was actually at pick and pull today trying to find one. All I found was a 4ag engine and its ECU. The car was made in the states. Any ideas on where I should Start?

http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/replace.htm?PF=Y
From link:

Engine Changes
Engine changes are legal as long as the following requirements are met to ensure that the change does not increase pollution from the vehicle:

* The engine must be the same year or newer than the vehicle.

* The engine must be from the same type of vehicle (passenger car, light-duty truck, heavy-duty truck, etc.) based on gross vehicle weight.

* If the vehicle is a California certified vehicle then the engine must also be a California certified engine.

* All emissions control equipment must remain on the installed engine.

I've already looked into a 3sgte swap. Not possible in CA.

Wow. CA suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

Next option: turbo that sucker. biggrin.gif Or you could do a 3MZ-FE swap (V6).
