So I was planning on doing another 5sfte set-up, but thought why not just go about doing a 5sgte set-up.
I don't plan on running an EMS anytime soon. Although down the road its obvious that I will have to. The plan is to buy a complete 3rd gen 3sge motor. Thats right a 3sge motor. The plan is to just take the head and all the electronics and TRY to sell the block. I already have turbo parts, minus the turbo. I will run with the 3sge ecu, but with the emanage ultimate. Injectors since the 3sge is side feed, I will probably go with 540s. Not sure what injectors the 3rd gen 3sge uses. I have been in contact with MCS and I will be probably be getting a crank that has already been turned down to accept the stock 3sgte rods I am using. The cost of their crank is 300, but I am in the process of shopping around to see if its cheaper to machine down the crank I have out of the 94 block. The plus side to MCS is the fact that they use 98+ cranks only. I will have the wiring harness converted for me by Doc. I did originally plan to build the bottom end with the following parts and get the 5sfe cams regrind from Geoff at Colt Cams for $400, oversized valves from a 2jz and do the head up. To be honest the machining is the thing that makes both plans pricey. I DO want to build a 5sfTe beast, but at the same time Just think of having a 5sgte. What do you guys think I should do. I'm going to be honest, I have been researching day and night for the past week. Not going to bed until 4AM and the first thing I do when I wake up is log onto the internet. Lets make this final and end my dilemma. -Will This post has been edited by bccentaur3: Feb 19, 2009 - 11:14 PM -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

Well, it has just been a waiting game. I plastigauged the motor with the new bearings I bought and found that I needed oversized bearings for my main bearings. So after another week I was able to button the motor up.
After putting the motor in the car, I realized I needed an oil filter relocation kit. The oil filter won't clear the 3" dp. So I went out and found someone locally selling a kit for his sons 5sfte setup. Heres a pic of the motor assembled minus the oil filter relocation kit. Since then I have put the motor in the car and have her running. I am idling a bit high, thinking it maybe the isc resistor in the ecu. It could be a vacuum leak though, since the gasket kit came with 2 throttle body gaskets for some reason. Or it could be the notching I did on my intake manifold to throttle body for the ISC. I didn't make it big enough. If that were the case, I can live with a 1000 rpm idle. I'll take more pics of the motor in the bay. Oh so far I have 2 miles on her. and btw the valve cover is super scuffed up now after having to pull the motor 2 more times after original install due to some issues with the transmission. And cams not lined up properly, stupid 3sge cams. They don't have a notch to line up with the cam cap near the cam gear. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer
