I want to first start the thread with a link to my last thread http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=52431 This is my next big step from all that info.
Here is the story. I was in love with my 5sfte I drove her with a smile on my face each and every day. After my exhaust feel off at the dwg meet my car started really smoking so at first Jim thought my ebay turbo had finally blown the seals and the oil was just blowing into the downpipe and causing a huge amount of smoke. Well after getting my exhaust fixed it just kept smoking..I should get a video to show u guys bc its bad. Well Jim and I wanted to check to see if the compression was still good b4 I went and bought a new turbo and that's when we found out cly 2 had 60 compression. SO we sat down and talked about options for a little while comparing different set ups and different ideas...and my biggest prob was if I had to have it rebuilt I wanted to do it big. So once I asked Jim his brother and Manny what they would do it was clear to me that I had to be a traitor and go to the 3rd gen 3sgte. We looked for mr2 engine sets with the lsd e153 trans since Jim had spare st205 parts. That way I could have the same setup as Jim's pretty much bc I love how smooth his car drives even tho my 5sfte was more fun and felt faster for a small girl like me have such a smooth driving car is much safer. Jim decided to go to the local place that sells sets and talk to the guy and this is were I got very excited and decided to start a thread to share my story and experience with this build with you. At the moment this is what my setup will be: WRC ST205 3sgte e153 from a mr2t with lsd custom turbo kit(no more ebay turbo) As for now Ill be updating this little by little but it could be a little while b4 another big update..and you will have pictures of me doing work on the car bc ill be helping out with the swap for sure! I am also gonna try to get lots of detailed pictures with explanations! My old setup is gonna be sold off so if u will be looking for anything please contact me but it might not be ready for at least a month to be shipped. Here are pictures more to come once the rain stops! This post has been edited by supershannon77: Jul 18, 2012 - 8:18 PM -------------------- |

Cali, I meant that 300whp seems to be the questionable mark. Running a 5sfte on a stock bottom end at around 300whp just seems like your flirting with danger. CAN you make more then that, of course....BUT I personally dont think it will last, because I personally feel that 300whp is the "breaking" point of a 5sfte.
I say this due to recent events with Shannons and Manny's cars. Now, there is obviously no real "hp number" where a motor will break, so some may break at 280whp, and others may break at around 350whp...I just used 300whp as what I feel to be an average/expected/max limit of the stock 5s bottom end, from personal experience, and others misfortunes. How far you want to tune to, or PAST 300whp is entirely up to you, and as more and more people decide to do so, we will further confirm the limits of the stock 5s bottom end.
