Ok,
I began installing my alarm today and have a couple of questions. I have Coomer's wirin diagram http://www.6gc.net/misc/images/other/rs650...all_diagram.jpg but am not sure exactly where those wires are. I have removed the drivers side kick panel and have found about 4 different harness down there. For example at least 2 or 3 of the harness have a black and white wire. A specific example of what I'm taling about is Coomer says in his diagram for the starte output wire coming off the alarm should go into the "black/white wire @ ignition harness" how do i know which one of those harness is down there is the ignition one? Also in another post someone said "Door locks are negative trigger. In the left kickpanel blue/black is lock and blue is unlock. " What harness would this be in? Thanks Cormudgen This post has been edited by Cormudgen: Dec 14, 2003 - 4:53 PM |

Thanks coomer!
Ok, one more ? I bought a SPAL lock kit. Each lock servo has 5 wires coming from it. One plug with 2 wires and one with 3. The 2 wire plug contains the actuator wires. When you apply power to them the actuator goes one direction. When you reverse the polarity it goes the other. While you apply current the actuator is still 'pushing or pulling'. I would assume it just needs to do this momentarily to get the lock over center then it should relax. The other 3 wires are a switch with one common terminal and one that goes to ground when the actuator is out and one thats closed when the actuator is in. There is also a little control box that everything plugs into but there are no control wires coming out of the box. Basically its designed to unlock both doors when you unlock one. I would like to maintain this functionality, but add a switch to lock/unlock and also I would like my alarm to be able to actuate the locks. The switch is easy, I think I just need a 2 way momentary rocker switch wired in with the switching plug. The alarm I'm not sure what to do with. Are its outputs for door locks just a momentary switching signal? Or does it actually have a reversing 12V output? The directions I got with the COMPUSTAR alarm are pretty much useless. (I can figure all this out on my own, but thought I would ask before I spend a lot of time working on it) Thanks! |
