Was taking out presents out my trunk when I got a strong whiff of GAS. Looked under the car and didn't see much. Until I got the flash light. Saw the gas leaking from the pipe that runs from the port to the tank. The pipe looks heavily rusted. How much is it to fix? Or is it a easy fix for a novice like me? The leak is pretty steady with about 2 to 3 drops at the same time every 6 seconds. Doesn't help my drive way is on a ****ing hill.
Any ideas? |

fuel line or filler neck? the little lines or the big tube that you put the gas nozzle into?

fuel line or filler neck? the little lines or the big tube that you put the gas nozzle into? It seems like it's coming from the gas tube (bigger one). When the two lines from the port come down behind the rear driver's side wheel it passes the mount that holds the two tight against the spare tire housing. Then there is a piece of metal on the top of the two lines that hold them next to each other. Looks like the rust ate through that part. I poured some dry gas in through the nozzle port cause it smells like alcohol so I can see where exactly the small leak is coming from by feeling around and finding the smell. It's certainly coming from the top where that metal piece that's welded on top of both lines to hold them next to each other. This post has been edited by Tech-Nics: Dec 25, 2009 - 2:48 PM |
