Check for shaft play, make sure it's not too bad. Look for oil residue inside the fins of the turbo, that will tell you if the seals are shot. Nothing to really look for in a manifold, just make sure there's no cracks in it, and that it's not warped at all. Put the inlet side on a flat surface and see if it's all even, or if it wobbles a bit.
But I will advise you to not jump into this unless you are planning on spending at LEAST 2500. Sure you can build it for cheaper and skimp out on a tune and cut corners. But it will not be a solid car and reliable, like you said you needed. Save some money up, or peice together a good setup, little by little as you get money. But do not think that can go into this with no contingency. -------------------- ![]() |
