Hey 6gc.net, my name is Matt, Im 25 and Im from Sydney Australia.
I've had my '98 SX-R for about 5 years now and its been through hell and back with me, I'll tell you the story... About 6 months ago, I had a perfectly stock, well maintained and apart from being in dire need of a wash, great Celica. This was my 6gc on the last day of my holiday in the Australian Alps. This was it 24 hours later. Here's the story, I drove 10 hours back home from the snow to find my driveway packed with cars belonging to my 18 year old brothers friends so I was forced to park on the street as he was having a party. Being completely buggered from the drive, I promptly went to bed. A couple of hours later Im woken by screams and loud bangings sounds, turns out some gate-crashers my brother ejected decided they would retaliate to this by rejection by bringing 20 men armed with baseball bats and machetes and going to town on the cars outside my house. My screams of rage measured 4 on the Richter. So my beloved 6gc languished under a tarp for 6 months before I had the cash to repair it (I dont believe in car insurance). I'd always refrained from modifying the car to retain decent re-sell value, though now I've spent several thousand dollars on it I've changed my mind and replaced my broken lights with JDM projectors. And so it has begun, now that I've changed one thing this car will be a work in progress from now on. Planned mods: Wheels, tyres and suspension. Exhaust and intake. Sound system. Bodykit. Paint. I hope you guys can help point me in the right direction for this stuff and I look forward to building a 6gc worthy of joining the ranks of some of the fantastic rides I've seen here. -Palmy |

Don't Australian drivers have to take out a compulsory 3rd party insurance policy?
Still wont cover your damage though. In New Zealand there is no legal requirement for any insurance, I however have taken out comprehensive cover on my GT-Four, Would be foolish not to. PS. Gutted for your car. Hey do all Aussie spec '98 Celicas have those red sets like JDM SS-II and SS-III? I don't think the NZ spec '98 GS or the US spec '98 GT have red seats like that. One thing I did notice is that, the interior pattern in JDM Celicas changed 94-95 to 96-97 to 98-99 ... And the JDM 1998 SS-I has the same pattern as the red seats, but in a kinda teal / baby blue colour. -------------------- Mike W

Only Green slip, which doesnt cover property, only people. PS. Gutted for your car. Hey do all Aussie spec '98 Celicas have those red sets like JDM SS-II and SS-III? They only came on SX-R along with the white dash This post has been edited by CelicaZR: Jan 17, 2010 - 6:29 AM -------------------- 98 ST204 ZR - Black Beauty - Roaming the streets of Sydney 73 TA22 LT - Tiffany Blue - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 75 TA22 LT - Snow White - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 77 RA28 LT - Flubber Green - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 94 MX-5 NA8 Clubman - Red Racer - Looking for corners WIP Project: 69 RT40 Corona, 2nd WIP Project: 66 RT40 1600s Corona 86 Corona RT142 - Daily Driver 6GC 4 Life Baby!!! |
