I was looking at the how-tos and it had one about resetting the ECU. My car idles rough when it's cold out (it might just be that it idles that way all the time) so, would that fix it?

I reset my ECU 2 or 3 times to get rid of a stored engine fault code (the infamous GT4 code 54). The ECU basically starts fresh from square 1
assessing and adjusting fo any new engine mods and over the next few trips it adjusts for your driving behaviour (short, long trips) to get the best set up for economy. To be honest the car felt more eager the first day after resetting but reverted back to its original performance. The ECU has the last say on how it feels the car should perform, you can only control its behaviour and the performance of the car by remapping it or fooling the inputs to its sensors. I wouldn't waste my time doing it..... |
