so i just got some nice alpine type s speakers and i really want them to sound as good as they can, so i decided i may soundproof my car or at least try to reduce my rattle, does anyone know if that great stuff foam will work for this? and please dont smack me for this, just an idea

sometimes its not just sound proofing, sometimes you just need to pad certain things or create padding between, not just wrapping the walls. such as rubber washers

Sound dampening material is just part of the whole deal; it's best to start with that first to reduce the road noise, and then isolate the rattles and vibrations. What I have posted above is literally just the first stage of laying down the sound deadening on the floorboards and rear wheel wells (94 ST came with virtually NONE to begin with). After I laid down the stuff you see in the photos, I laid Ensolite down over top of it, which is an ultra-light density closed cell PVC foam mat material. NASA ftw I just didn't take pictures with the ensolite layed down, I'd planned to when I do the doors and hatch floor. -------------------- |
