hey y'all. i was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the auto shift knob in an automatic? (yes... an automatic! lol.) i've been struggling with it. I have already removed both screws that are located on the front of the knob and have taken the center console off but have had no luck. The shift knob just slides up and down but it won't come completely off. I'm afraid that If I pull on it too hard, it'll break or that I will damage something. I've also googled this topic but have had no luck so i'm turning to the 6gc community. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i never had to remove auto stick but have you tried the following?
Pulling entire thing up and pressing overdrive and gear shift buttons? I am fairly certain there is a spring behind both and if there is a slight pressure from underneath you might be able to just slide it out like that. -------------------- Captain Pessimist

The overdrive button will come out (as in, pull from the stick), but the wires are soldered onto it from there. You need to pull out most of the bezel and seats/carpeting and such to get it out "correctly," if I'm not mistaken. -------------------- ~Moving on to a 2002 Corolla S~ R.I.P Tom Celica - 1994-2010 |
