I need to know what voltage/ohms etc. for the wiring the cigarette lighter is on. I'm planning on using those harnesses to wire in an led. The specs for it are here:
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/sto...%2Fa2_specs.htm I have plenty of resistors, just need to know what type I need to use so I don't burn it out. -------------------- |

The cigarette lighter is 12V. The power on the cigarette lighter is switched, when you shut the car off, the port turns off (nice feature).
If you want one red LED in there, you want 20mA going through the LED. Therefore, you would use a 470 Ohm Resistor in there. An easy way to check how to wire it is using this awesome Webpage! http://ledcalc.com/ Your supply voltage is 12V (varies though, from 11V to 15V) 13V is a good value to use. Voltage drop across each LED depends on color, but if you hover over the [?] button it tells you average values. For the LED Current, you wanna use like 20-30mA. But if they're superbrights, you may need more, read the package that came with your LEDs. |
