Just a heads up for people thinking of VIN swapping, Japanese Domestic Market VIN's are stamped into the firewall on the driver's (right) side. It is unlikely, but if an enforcement official is aware of this and sees a 17 digit VIN plate on the dash and a ST205-XXXXXXX VIN on the firewall, then you could kiss your car and money invested goodbye.
Like it has been said before, it is POSSIBLE, but very risky to register and drive an imported vehicle under 25y/o in the States. If you don't have the disposable income to throw away $15,000 and not worry about it, then you would be best not to bother trying... move to Canada instead, it will be cheaper for you in the long run ![]() |
