So I came back from work last night and as always made a dash to my mailbox. Providing I live in a gated community I prefer to walk instead of cruising all around scaring people with my loud exhaust. Now I am a human being and as such I also have things that royally piss me off. Things like ohh I dont know noisy children or always barking dogs or profound smell of dog sh*t just passing by as I am sitting outside in my screened patio. None of those things, apparently compare to the pain and suffering that I have caused to someone (as indicated in letter from my homeowner association) who does not have cahones to come and talk to me in person.
Yes there are laws about noise violations and here in Florida according to law, my car must comply with those laws and not be more loud than 83db when next to residential units. My Megan N1 turbo exhaust and my blow off valve are not quiet by any means but if I turn on my car and go back inside and close my door I can not hear it even quarter loud as if I was standing next to it. It, of course idles a lot quieter by itself and is louder as I am pulling out. Due to my community speed limit I never exceed 15mpg during which my car gets closer to 83db. So to speed things up let me bring you up to speed. I bought this town home in April of 2009 and 5 days a week I start my car and leave at 7am and come back at 4:30pm. For almost a whole year, never once had I had complaints about how "loud" my car is. It was not until I had a renter move in 2 doors away from me (a couple weeks back) with 3 oversized dogs and annoying 3 children that always snoop around my patio, that I have received a formal complaint. By process of elimination she is the one who filed a complaint because she is the only variable that has changed in last 11 months. Apparently she overlooks the fact that her dogs always bark 24/7 and every time she walks them I get a nasty stench as I am sipping on my cup of joe while outside. She also overlooks her 3 children who are out and about just loitering but ohh noes my "loud" car was enough to prompt this person who not only does not own a property here but also violates rules about having oversized dogs in community (where we are limited to 1 dog with a height no more than 2 feet high and 35lbs in weight). To top it off I always traveled with a convoy of 20-50 police vehicles traveling to a shooting range of where my old office used to be and never once have I been pulled over on the way to or from work site for having a "loud" car. If this lady wants to wage a war she can not win... I say bring it the F on. -------------------- Captain Pessimist
