I just tried to install E-bay short shifter (I think 7th gen) in my car and experienced problem - the bottom part of the shifter (from the ball down) is too long:
![]() I'd guess about 1/4 -3/8 inch... The bottom of the shifter is hitting this little bump on the chasis (hard to explain without picture) and won't go to 1st, 3rd and 5th gear. I need approximately 1/4-3/8 inch more clearance. I am already considering buying another shifter (this one was very cheap) but here is a thought: What would happen if I placed 1/4 (3/8) inch spacers under the whole (white plastic) shifter assembly and lifted it up?? Would it negatively affect anything? ![]() This post has been edited by conus00: Apr 10, 2010 - 8:38 PM -------------------- ![]() |

it could be the spacers, or you could be having the same problem i did with the ball not seating correctly in the cup, when you put the first cup on the bottom was it really snug? see if you can put wood shims under the shifter and put the ball into the cup, this could be your problem
