So I took out my air filter to clean it and as I looked underneath right behind my transmission, I saw a whole bunch of grease or oil splattered all over. It looked like something had exploded and got over everywhere. I check the other (passenger) side as well and it looks like the grease got all over the other axle as well. Here are some pics of where the grease is:
They're not great pics, but I just thought it might give you an idea. I checked my transmission and it's not leaking. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I know that something must be wrong. If anyone can help me and tell me where the grease/oil might be coming from I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot. |

on the 3rd picture you can clearly see the issue, your CV joint boot is broken, so the splatter of grease you see is the grease that was contained in it that flew everywhere as uyou drive.

The grease is also on both sides, does this mean that both boots are broken? Also, how much damage would this do to my wallet to get it fixed? Is it an easy fix as well? I know a lot of mechanical stuff, but axles and cv joints are not my thing. -Thanks, Ryan |
