Hi Guys,
i am just wondering what would be the best cold air intake pipe diameter for a 3rd gen 3sge with a throttle body of 65mm (2 and 5/8"). my current setup uses 3" diameter which i think is good at the higher rpm range but i feel that i'm losing some in the bottom to mid range. i wanted to use the same diameter as the throttle body but the only available pipe size in my location is 2.5" only. do you think that this would be very restrictive at higher rpms? my car is a daily driver and i use it on the track very seldom. but i run full throttle on the streets whenever possible. thanks. |

length of the pipe, the different filter brands and types, the 3" diameter all make the difference in sound. in fact it changes the sound of the whole car overall.

length of the pipe, the different filter brands and types, the 3" diameter all make the difference in sound. in fact it changes the sound of the whole car overall. i have read in one site lately that long CAI with small pipe improves low to mid torque, long CAI with bigger pipe improves mid range and short pipes improves the high. according to them, that is the basic guidelines. it's not specified, though, how small is small, how big is big, how long is long and how short is short ![]() |
