I would love to own the iPhone 4, but I'm not eligible for an upgrade until July of next year and so I'm just gonna wait till the iPhone 5 comes out next June. I heard it'll have an 8MP camera and if the 4's 5MP already beats the Evo's 8MP, imagine what the 5's 8MP will look like

Can't upgrade till you past that 6 months left point. 3GS + iOS4 upgrade is pretty much iPhone 4. No one uses the front camera anyway...
