for those of ya who havent followed dustin and steffs build thread, they aquired a 95 GT over the winter, and beams swapped it.
a good buddy of mine, mike, gave me a hand, and did most of the bodywork, i deleted the sidemarkers, and antenna hole, and mike helped me block out the car after i primed it. here are some pics. deleting sidemarkers all primed you can see the antenna delete in this pic and now the good stuff, the car was painted with an OEM lexus color, its a tri-stage paint job, meaning, you put down a solid basecoat color (in this case a medium/dark red), then a transparent midcoat (like a candy color paint job) with all the pearl ect in it, then clearcoat over that: this last pic is of the license plate surround, close up with the flash on, it shows the pearl midcoat off really well. lots more pics tommorow after work! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

I brought the car in to work today, everyone said it looked beautiful, three people didn't believe it was the same car, and a sales customer wanted to buy it.

how much did they offer It didn't even get that far. Not for sale. The end. Thanks everyone for all the nice comments. We've had the car for almost a year (in sept) and we have all put a lot of time and work into it since then. I'm so happy its finally all paid off and the car looks unbelievable. I'm so used to seeing our little pos instead of this completely different car so it really does amaze me every time I see it now. Oh and Manny, everyone's been asking me all day and I've been telling them it was painted at Maaco by my greenhorn friend, makes for a good reaction This post has been edited by hurley97: Jul 21, 2010 - 7:50 PM -------------------- |

Oh and Manny, everyone's been asking me all day and I've been telling them it was painted at Maaco by my greenhorn friend, makes for a good reaction Well that explains it then. No wonder it turned out so nice... I totally wish I were on that side of the continent... Manny you and _Jim_ would get a lot of business from me. ... my wife would probably leave me, and all my cash would be direct deposit into your accounts, but at least my car would finally be done. -------------------- |
