We wont be making the TTE ones.
These are real carbon but made using a new process we're working on. Post from the OC: As many of you know we at RT-P are forever thriving to deliver high quality carbon products. one of our greatest obstacles are to make products with complicated fixings such as dash brackets and clips. Most people over come this by wrapping a complicated OEM part. So we at RT-P have been working on a new technique to bond polyurethane with carbon. Polyurethane aka PU is a form of plastic ideal for making parts like your dash and bumpers. We've been looking at bonding it with carbon so that we can make detailed parts with the functionality and strength of carbon without being too heavy. Here's our first PU Carbon part. OEM style mirrors. These may look like normal carbon parts but they have been bonded with a PU structure. As you can see on the underside, it's made of PU. Unlike skinning, which is simply wrapping carbon to a OEM part, we've been replicating the OEM fixings so it fits perfectly just like the origional part. The shell is almost egg shell thin with a waffle surface so that the carbon can bond to giving it the strength it needs and still just as light weight. Looking carefully at the picture you can even see the original Toyota writing on the inside. Why cant you do this with FG? Because FG isn't very good when it comes to detailed and not as strong. |
