Well, the Focuz was too loud for me and I wanted something more mellow, so I got a 2.5" NA N1 thinking that it would flow good in conjunction with my 2.5" downpipe and piping. Well, the N1 is smaller in diameter than 2.5" inside, compared to my Focuz which is a perfect 2.5" from the inlet all the way to the exhaust. The N1 was too quiet...sounded like a stock last generation Eclipse GT's exhaust. The muffler shop guy told me: "it's going to restrict too much...keep the Focuz" Well, A'PEXi brags with it's "straight-through design" so that bought me, and my friend has a 3" Turbo N1 in his Mirage and it sounds beautiful. I thought that it was going to perform better than the Focuz. Well, it slowed me down A LOT...the car lost torque and high end power...it didn't feel like a turbo car anymore. With the Focuz, the car would spin tires from a dead stop in DRIVE at much less than 70% throttle (it's an automatic). With the N1, it tried but couldn't. It sounds nice but too mellow and it restricts too much. The EGT didn't get hotter but the car slowed down horribly. So, as my advice to you and the advice that my friend gave me and I didn't take, don't make this mistake. Get the 3" Turbo N1, even if you don't have 3" downpipe and piping...turbos need flow, and the 2.5" NA N1 cannot provide it.

i used to have the HKS Hi-power exhaust on my celica, and OMFG. I still love it to this day.
But now that i'm turbo charged, i went with the custom signature carbon fiber exhuast from Signal Auto ( 3 inch pipping ). And for those who dont know, Signal auto is the home of the Drift Twin 240's. Driven by Drfter X and Drifter XL. Long live drifting This post has been edited by sphinx_race911: Jan 14, 2004 - 6:44 PM |
