Lets see here. The answer to your question is NO, you don't need to paint the fogs lens just to have yellow fogs. You could buy generic yellow bulbs (non HID), but the quality usually isn't that great compared to HID's. When it comes to what TYPE of yellow you're looking for, that Depends on how "yellow" you want the fogs to be. MOST brands of yellow HID's (3000K), and I do mean MOST, are more of a highlighter yellow, not in the literal sense. But it's more of a lighter yellow. Where if you paint the lens, you get more of a goldish yellow outcome. I sprayed my fogs & have the 3000K HID's and couldn't be happier. As you can tell, I'm more of a goldish yellow kind of guy! I'll see if I can post up pics tomorrow. Remember! If you're painting your lens, be sure to spray a few coats of clear on the yellow. Otherwise, a few months in the sun and it will fade.
