looking to have a short shifter, but ill be dagnabit to spend a hundred bucks for one....I think thats ridiculous for 2 rods and a few nuts. cant I just cut the shifter? is there anything wrong with taking a dremel to it and re-attaching the knob?

There are a couple problems with the generic ebay 7th gen celica short shifter. One is that it does not come with the necessary clips so you have to either find something that will work at a hardware store or ghetto rig something up, otherwise the shifter will move side to side. Secondly it does not come with the cup remover tool and some members were having much difficulty getting the cups off without destroying them. Also problems with removing pins, balls not staying in the cups, etc., as described in this thread:
