I've looked around for HID kits and the brands range between cheap xentec to philips kits.
The prices of these kits range from $35 to $300. Why is there a huge price difference. There is the obvious quality of parts and different technology. But the real question is: Do the higher end kits give you more light for the same wattage? Has anyone burnt out a ballast? To those of you who have aftermarket HID kits installed; what kit did you get and how good has it been so far? |

I've had Griffgirl's HID's and I just bought a set of the $35 HID's from DDM. I will say that Griffgirl's HID's are definitely brighter. No question about that. I never had issues with my eyes adjusting to the darkness. But for $35 plus shipping, and you get a lifetime warranty, the DDM kit is great value. I read a lot of reviews on them before I made the purchase and apparently the guy who owns the company is a great guy. He has the attitude of "Kit doesn't work? Here's an entirely new kit." And the biggest reason that people have to replace their DDM kits is they've gotten into a wreck or something and destroyed their bulbs.
That being said, $35 for DDM lights and $130 for Michelle's lights... There's definitely $100 more light from Michelle's HID's. Well worth the extra money. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates.
