I just bought a 95 celica GT liftback for the sole purpose of rally racing. I'm building it to meet Rally America and NASA specs.
I'm scrolling through reading as much as I can about the car, but any opinions on weak areas on this car would be appreciated; as in stresses a rally car might really effect. I will be welding as many seems as I can find, at minimum 6 point cage, but i'll probably make it 8 as i plan on going through the firewall to the front strut towers. Basically just reinforcing anything I can. My goal is to compete in blackriver stages next september. I like your style. I have an FD and a GT4 Celica too.
I know what you're talking about tracking the FD. I'm on my 2nd FD tracking mine (time attack) after putting it into a barrier during nationals 2009. I found it a potent car at 260WHP finishing 2nd overall in the region for 2010. I can only imagine 550WHP with a V8. It would be scary. I dabbled in rally-x but you know that scary feeling when you can't control your slide on the track, well rally-x is like that but the feeling never goes away. |
