back ground, last summer i replaced the front and rear motor mounts. The front one went in without a problem, however the rear which was supposedly meant for the GT with MT didn't bolt in, the studs were too short. The store said that the mounts for automatic and manual transmissions may have been listed backwards. I ended up getting the listed for the automatic transmission. Near the beginning of december the engine started knocking around again, so i took a look and the mount has ripped straight down through the rubber. I know the mount is really made for the auto trans cause it has significantly less rubber, but it was the only one of the 2 that would bolt in. I got the mounts from CarQuest.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and does anyone know what auto parts store will have the rear motor mount with studs long enough to bolt in?

manual mounts have more legs than the automatic mounts, thats your first key to distinguish what you have. automatic mounts I've used before at one point but switched to manual later after my swap. they both fit but manual mounts appear to be more durable with the extra legs. Much easier to go with OEM catalog because a lot of times aftermarket replacement catalogs are fond of incorrect part numbers, or universal parts used for other cars. Its easy to notice what is different between OEM and aftermarket stuff, things are not shaped the same, too long or too short, etc.
