 Oil dipstick reading wrong, Is it possible? |

My 7A used to burn a bit of oil, but lately, every time I check the dipstick, the oil level is in the exact same spot when I used to go through about a half quart a month. But for almost a month, it's been roughly the same. Is it even possible for the dipstick to read the oil level wrong?

If the car is cold, and level, the dipstick will read properly. Your bitching about your car NOT burning oil anymore?I envy you good sir, my engine eats oil like gas...

I read that if your car doesn't burn oil, it's an indication that waste material is building up in the oil which is bad for the engine. In other words, oil still gets burnt but the volume is taken up by waste by-product like moisture and acid so the oil level seems to stay the same.
