I can't find any threads that specify what the issue is. It drives nice and smooth until 65mph+. The steering wheel shakes quite a bit after 65mph and it's starting to annoy me a little. I only drive 6 miles to work so it doesn't bother me as much but when summer comes around and I get to do my 140 mile trips to wisconsin, it'll be an issue. Anyone have any idea of what it might be? Steering rack? Motor mounts? My struts/springs are pretty new all around. Wheels were mounted/balanced and have less than 500 miles. I'm not particularly familiar with this area of expertise so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Its most likely your tires in need of a balance, most places use those stick on weights which i have had fly off before, or it could be from the tires sitting in the same spot all witer

This!

I would re-balance them before doing anything else.. (obviously you should check tire pressure before doing that biggrin.gif )
I would guess that either one of the stick on weights has flown off (these things are made cheap now and half of them don't use 3m adhesive any more.. mad.gif )
or the machine just wasn't calibrated/on the fritz that day you had them balanced. (balancing machines can be really finicky bitches for what ever reason..)

If you had a bad wheel bearing you would likely get a noise along with it.

One other thing is some times if your front rotors are REALLY warped it can transfer into the steering wheel at high speeds without the brakes even being applied.. but if this was the case.. you would have a wicked vibration when you hit the brakes too.

While your car is up in the air having the balance checked.. get them to check your front end out too just for piece of mind smile.gif
