I don't know much about how these cars run or whats expected to happen to them. So firstly I wanna do some maintenance and make sure everything's fine with it. As of yesterday it was at 188,888 miles. Its a salvage because the previous owner slammed into the back of a Monte Carlo. The only non cosmetic damage that I know of was to the radiator which has since been replaced. The only problem with the car I know of (besides a bent rim, haha) is the trannys getting old, its an auto btw. It takes a good 5 seconds for reverse to catch and pop in, and when its shifting up (especially into 2nd) it kicks but the revs don't go crazy or anything. Once the car is in 4th (O/D) I have also noticed in 4000rpms area the car seems to stop giving more power. It doesn't stop, it just won't send more power. I heard thats because the 5SFE engine doesn't usually have anything left past 4,400rpms but I just wanted to check in on that. Other then that, I think I have short in my wiring. Whenever I turn my high beams on all the inside lights dim very noticeably. When I bought the car it came with 2 15s and P15 amp (too loud for sure) and those will make the lights dim out almost all the way when they kick hard. So what do yall think I need to look at/do to get this car running like shes new again?
tl;dr It's maintenance time for the first time, what do? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by travisxcore: Mar 24, 2011 - 2:04 PM |

Spider77, nice pic ![]() ST and GT OEM installed cruise control accuators are located in different spots. ST has it on the pass side, GT right next to the battery. Travisxcore, again, your car does not have ABS. What you have there is an aftermarket (or dealer) installed cruise control. It doesn't matter what the manual says, I assure you, your car does not have it. Yea when I talked to the guy last night he said that was the Cruise Control. The original one got trashed when he wrecked it. He says he believes the wire harness on this one is ****ed up but I haven't got a chance to look at it. About the abs your pbly right though, I still haven't checked where he said it was at, but I don't know jack about this car and he doesn't know to much either. whats up man welcome to the club i'm in Fayetteville, Fort Bragg area myself. What part of NC you located? Thanks man. Just North of Charlotte. Bout 2 hours away from Ft Brag. To anyone in NC, if youd like to meet up, show me your car, help out, give suggestions or just hang out let me know. I'd love to see some of yalls cars in person and get some ideas.
