Hi guys, really hope someone out there can help me with this headache i've had recently!
My front left wheel has a positive camber, I think previous owner curbed it, wheel looks like \------| The car has had a second hand hub, strut and wishbone fitted, this has improved things alot but not completely, I am now wondering what else it could be, I hope its not the subframe! I read that people alter the camber but would I need a kit to do this or can it be done alone? Headache 2 Third set of discs + pads on the same side, front left, they have all warped! Shaking through the steering wheel and pulsing on pedal whilst braking. I have tested the temperatures of disks, left is higher then right which I guess kinda makes sense. What is worth changing here? Rod ends? Ball joint? Caliper? Garage tell me my caliper isn't sticking. Someone please help me, I have considered a full alignment/chamber/body check at a professional garage but not sure where to look. Absolute love the car and have spent hundreds already doing it up. Very odd dude! accidents always cause odd things that weren't there before.
Have you got an SS-II or SS-III as I don't know a whole lot about super strut, but I assume you just have normal suspension and by wishbone you mean the lower control arm? I had someone reverse into me and was unsure what was bent so I changed them all and haven't had issues since! Also are you lowered? (not that pinpoints the problem as the other side is fine) I hope you had an alignment after you put the new parts in because thats probably it . You can get camber bolts that give a 1 degree of camber or less but It's obvious you have something wrong if the other side is fine, and I would of thought it would defs be strut or control arm but maybe not... I still can't see how you'd go through so many discs and pads because of camber but I guess it makes sense, I'd probs try and fix the alignment problem and go from there, its possible the strut or control arm that you put in could be bent but unlikely, you could try changing all those things but you can tell if a tie rod is straight or old, ball joint I'm not too sure how much that would make it out of alignment but it's possible, and caliper could be worth changing also (or rebuilding caliper, easy job) sometimes to fix a problem you have to change many things, and I'm in the same predicament with my brakes and its sucks. If its not the alignment causing the brake problem it could be anything from the caliper, slider pins even, master cylinder or proportioning valve (although that is rare) This post has been edited by Euphoria: May 9, 2011 - 10:21 PM |
